Stocking up on RAW ingredients.

by Valik Rudd

It is mostly exciting to begin this project and probably just as scary because I know my self and I tend to quit things when it’s not going my way…especially when it has to do with food. Because of this reason I am trying to attach other things to it – like this blog – to help me continue. Hopefully there will be some readers that will encourage me in this and help me complete it.

The project I am talking about is a 60-day raw food fast or whatever you want to call it. I will only be eating raw food for 60 days to help detox my body and hopefully lose most of my lard. My plan is to keep updating every day on my progress and to make videos showing what I’ve been eating.

Today we went out and bought all kinds of vegetables, fruits and nuts. Yes we spent more money on this purchase than we would have on normal food we’ve been eating but the reason is that we had to stock up on a bunch of staple things like nuts and spices and other stuff that will last us the entire 60 days (hopefully). And I’ve noticed I began saying “we” instead of I, that is because my wifey is doing this with me too, which should help me that much more.

When I began thinking about this I had no idea where to start, what we would be eating, so we found a book about raw food and from about 7 I looked at, this was the only one that had really good looking stuff and food that I can actually make and enjoy. This book is called Raw Food: A Complete Guide for Every Meal of the Day by  Erica Palmcrantz and Irmela Lilja. I just went through the recipes in there and picked out the ingredients that I think we would need to make pretty much anything in this book. I did not want to get anything super fancy, just simple stuff that is available in any grocery store.

In the video above you see the amount of stuff we bought. Our refrigerator is stuffed with vegetables and fruits now and we have replaced the bins that used to hold our starches – like pastas and rice – with nuts and seeds.

Tomorrow, we start. Wish us faith (because we don’t believe in luck)!

PS: Yes, I am missing one of my front teeth… Yet another reason for this life style/diet change, this is what happens when you live on sugar. Didn’t get my replacement yet, should be back in there in the next few weeks. But for now just ignore that.
