There is nothing like having healing powers at the tips of your fingers. No not powers like wizards but the strength of having your own plants and herbs that heal. Not many people are aware of the true healing powers that mother nature has offered us through plants. Here is a list of eleven medicinal plants you should grow at home and why they will benefit you are your family.

Chamomile

Chamomile is not only gorgeous to look at but is known as one of the more popular herbal remedies. This plant is used for many different medicinal purposes such as an anti-depressant, muscle relaxer for cramps, soothing properties if you are having trouble sleeping, stomach soother, helps with bowel issues and digestive, helps heal open wounds, and for every parent out there it helps fight the common cold that comes around yearly. Not only is Chamomile good for all the above it also is known for improving the quality of ones skin. Growing Chamomile is generally pretty simple. All you need to make sure is that you have light sandy soil in a full sun area. Watering only needs to happen on occasion.This plant is generally pretty low maintenance.

There is one warning with this plant though, you do not want to use this while you are pregnant and nursing. If you are looking into planying Goldenseal make sure that you are planting it in well drained soil and an area that is 75 percent in the shade.
